Media Notes: Sky Sports Shows Most Watched EPL Matches For Second Season

Sky Sports has shown 49 of the top 50 most watched Premier League matches this season. In a repeat of last season’s ratings, Sky has shown the most viewed matches from the '14-15 season (Sky Sports). ... Premier Sports "has acquired a package of live broadcast rights" to the 2015 Copa América in the U.K. The British pay-TV sports broadcaster will show live coverage in the U.K. of all 26 games of the tournament (SOCCEREX, 5/15). ... Cable & Wireless Communications has been named the official broadcast sponsor and exclusive telecom partner of the 2016 Rio Olympics for the pan-Caribbean. The company has secured the Olympic content rights to all platforms in 20 English-speaking countries, "as well as non-exclusive rights in ten non-English-speaking countries throughout the region." In addition to the Olympic coverage, CWC will "provide its customers with live video feeds and data services offered across TV, mobile, radio and Internet streams, featuring interviews, profiles and live-action footage of local Caribbean athletes" (RAPID TV NEWS, 5/15).
