League Notes: Bangladesh Cricket Board To Probe Allegations Of Match-Fixing

The Bangladesh Cricket Board "will probe allegations of match-fixing during the final round of this season's domestic league." Two years after similar allegations led to the postponement of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 competition, the sport "took another hit when Khulna Division lodged a complaint about the March 12 game between Rangpur Division and Dhaka Metropolis" (REUTERS, 5/17). ... The Board of FIBA Europe met in Malta on Friday and, among others, debated the future of the European club competitions. FIBA Europe reaffirmed its support for the reorganization of all club competitions, including regional leagues, across the continent. FIBA Europe together with FIBA is currently working on plans to remodel the European club competitions landscape and they are in dialogue with the clubs, fans, sponsors, broadcasters and other stakeholders about the future of basketball in Europe (FIBA). ... The Int'l Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (FIBT) "has become the latest federation to freeze ties with umbrella body SportAccord" following SportAccord President Marius Vizer's attack on the IOC. The FIBT said its exec committee voted unanimously to suspend its SportAccord membership following Vizer's "inappropriate presentation of criticism and sharp words" toward the IOC (AP, 5/14).
