DBB President Ingo Weiss Criticizes Lack Of Sports Investment By German Auto Industry

German Basketball Federation (DBB) President Ingo Weiss "has criticized the investment willingness of the auto industry in various sports," according to Matthias Kettenburg of SPONSORs. Weiss: "There are things that I will never understand. BMW, for example, has had a large advertisement presence during the Euro Basket 2013 in Slovenia. However, in Germany the company is only investing in golf, sailing and tennis." Weiss added that it is not just basketball that has been ignored. He said, "The auto industry is largely non-existent for German sports." The fact many car companies are involved in football does not count, according to Weiss, as football has a special position in Germany (SPONSORs, 5/13).
