Some of Brasileiro side Corinthians' players have not received "image rights payments" totaling R$15M ($5M), according to Vítor Marques of ESTADÃO. Without funds to "settle debts," President Roberto de Andrade said that he is "focused" on Wednesday's Copa Libertadores match against Guarani. De Andrade: "Now is not the time to talk about debt. ... We know we're in debt, we've talked and we've asked for patience." He said that "it is not so easy to obtain a loan and that the board of directors is working to settle delayed payments." He added, "All [players] are behaving with dignity" (ESTADÃO, 5/12). In São Paulo, Itri & Rizzo reported Corinthians on Wednesday said it is '"very hopeful' of paying a portion of its debt with players." Corinthians Finance Dir Emerson Piovesan said, "I am very hopeful to pay part of it by early tomorrow morning." To obtain a loan, Corinthians "will provide, as a guarantee, revenue from current sponsors." But, even so, the amount "will not be sufficient to settle all its debts," which have reached nearly R$20M ($6.6M) (FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO, 5/12).
