More Than 4.2 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Spanish F1 Grand Prix On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded more than 4.2 million viewers for its broadcast of the Spanish F1 Grand Prix," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. Sunday's race obtained a 32% market share as an average of 4.25 million viewers tuned in. In the target demographic 14-49, the win of Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg drew a 25.6% share. German pay-TV network Sky Deutschland, which also aired the race, recorded 350,000 viewers for its broadcast. Sky obtained a 2.9% share in the target demo.

THE REST: German free-to-air TV sports channel Sport1 drew an average of 310,000 viewers for its broadcast of the DHB-Pokal (German Handball Cup) final between Flensburg and Magdeburg. In the target demographic, Flensburg's victory had a 2.8% share. The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) quarterfinal match between Oldenburg and Berlin attracted 120,000 viewers and drew a 0.6% rating in the target demo. Pan-European sports network Eurosport obtained a 0.5% market share for its broadcast of the Giro d'Italia. The coverage had a 1.3% market share as 160,000 viewers tuned in (DWDL, 5/11).
