Marketplace Roundup: Western Union Won't Renew Deal With UEFA Europa League

Western Union "has reportedly decided not to renew its partnership with UEFA as the presenter of the Europa League after three years." UEFA is expected to annuounce a replacement on Wednesday (SPONSORs, 5/11). ... Borussia Dortmund has agreed to a cooperation with Malaysian football club Soccer Youth Tigers. Dortmund will send two coaches to Malaysia to support the club's U13 and U15 teams. It will also provide Malaysian players the opportunity to practice in Dortmund's U23 squad. Borussia Dortmund will face Soccer Youth Tigers as part of its Asian tour on July 9 (SPONSORs, 5/11). ... Real Madrid's James Rodríguez will be Chinese telecom Huawei's Colombian brand ambassador for the next two years. Huawei announced in March that its '14 revenue in Colombia was $678M, a 40% increase from '13, making Colombia one of Huawei's top 11 markets (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 5/8). ... The logo of Bundesliga side FC Cologne has been displayed on the Hoover Dam in the U.S., setting a new world record in the process. The projection of the logo made its way into the Guinness World of Records as the largest projection ever undertaken (Bundesliga). ... EPL side West Bromwich Albion signed a partnership with Europcar. Under the terms of the new deal, Europcar will open a location at The Hawthorns Stadium, home of West Bromwich Albion (Europcar). ... 361 Degrees Int'l will launch a new line of football boots in September, which is specifically aimed for the enthusiasts of the game. Following the recent initiatives to prioritize football in primary and middle schools across China, the company has developed four new football boots and one training shoe, with the entry level priced at RMB339 ($55) (361 Degrees Int'l). ... New Balance "is planning to open a flagship store in Oxford Street next year" as it aims to challenge Nike and adidas. It "will be the 110-year-old firm's first foray onto the British high street in a standalone capacity" (IB TIMES, 5/11). ... EY Ireland "announced its sponsorship of the newly formed Irish Hockey League." The all-island EY Irish Hockey League will see 20 of Ireland’s top male and female field hockey clubs compete over a 19 week-season.
