Somague Seeks Compensation From Sporting Lisbon For 'Manipulating Facts'

Portuguese construction company Somague "accused" Portuguese Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon of "'deliberately misrepresenting and manipulating facts' and will request compensation" from the club for "'losses caused by the unfulfillment of contractual obligations' to build the João Rocha Pavilion," according to LUSA. In a statement, Somague said, "Despite not being Somague policy to use social media to wield arguments and feed controversies, we cannot allow this company to fail to mention that there is no truth to the accusations made by Sporting, which deliberately misrepresented and manipulated facts. ... Sporting asked that the company make several changes, which altered Somague's initial proposal. Somague always maintained the terms of its proposal." The club "accused the construction company of violating conditions" of a previously established contract by adding more than €600,000 to the stadium's construction price tag, which caused it to suspend its contract with Somague and award it to Ferreira Build Power instead. Somague "will be seeking compensation" for the "contract breaches" (LUSA, 5/11).
