Palestine FA Continues Pursuit To Have Israel Suspended From Int'l Football

Palestine FA President Jibril Rajoub said that it will "not drop its proposal for a vote at the FIFA Congress to suspend Israel" from int'l football although it will "continue to pursue dialogue," according to REUTERS. Rajoub met Israeli FA President Ofer Eini and FIFA President Sepp Blatter at FIFA HQ in the "latest attempt to end the impasse between the two sides." The PFA accused Israel of "hampering its activities and restricting the movement of players between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank." Israel cited "security concerns for the restrictions it imposes." FIFA said in a statement, "(FIFA President Blatter) confirmed that he will travel to Israel and Palestine to meet their respective FA Presidents and Heads of State ahead of the FIFA Congress" (REUTERS, 5/10).
