SHEIKH AHMAD AL-FAHAD AL-SABAH of Kuwait "extended his influence" further into football on Thursday when he was elected unopposed as one of Asia's three ordinary representatives on FIFA's exec committee. Sheikh Ahmad was the only candidate for a two-year term "up for grabs on FIFA's top table due to tactical manoeuvring by confederation chiefs." The tactics were orchestrated by SHEIKH SALMAN BIN EBRAHIM AL KHALIFA of Bahrain, "who himself was re-elected" as Asian Football Confederation president unopposed for a four-year term. He will continue on the FIFA exec committee as the Asian president (REUTERS, 4/30). ... Catalonia Automobile Club (RACC) President SEBASTIÀ SALVADÓ announced that he is resigning from the position, and that current VP & Dir General JOSEP MATEU will take over as president on July 1. Salvadó "said that now is a suitable moment after 30 years leading the organization." He has been president of the RACC since '85 (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 4/29). ... The Board of European Professional Club Rugby, the organizers of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments, has announced the appointments of VINCENT GAILLARD as director general and SIMON HALLIDAY as independent chairman (EPC Rugby). ... Sailing Olympic Medalist LARS GRAEL assumed officially on Wednesday the position of Brazilian National Athletic Commission (CNA) president. Grael was nominated for the position by Brazilian Sports Minister GEORGE HILTON "nearly three months ago" but only now accepted the position (ESTADÃO, 4/29). ... Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. on Tuesday announced the resignation of Taj TV-Distribution Business CEO ARUN KAPOOR, who decided to move on to pursue alternate career interests outside the group, and the elevation of RAJESH SETHI to CEO of Taj TV Ltd. (Zee News). ... Ascenso MX side Atlante named EDUARDO FENTANES its coach. The naming of Fentanes "begins the club's restructuring ahead of the '15-16 season." Fentanes previously worked as an assistant coach for the Mexican national team and as head coach of Liga MX side Puebla (NOTIMEX, 4/30).
