Executive Transactions

Canadian KEITH PELLEY has been named as the new CEO of the European Tour, succeeding GEORGE O'GRADY. O'Grady announced in November that he would be "stepping down from his role but would continue until a permanent successor was found." Pelley will "replace him from this summer, with O'Grady moving" into the position of president of int'l relations. Pelley is the president of Rogers Media and was involved in the Canadian organization's rights deal to cover the NHL. He "held the same role with Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and was CEO of the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts" from '03 to '07 (PA, 4/17). Pelley's appointment has been "welcomed" by Tournament Players Committee Chair THOMAS BJORN. Bjorn, a member of Europe's victorious Ryder Cup team in Scotland in September, has "already spoken to the 51-year-old Pelley at length and is impressed by the president of Canadian conglomerate Rogers Media." Bjorn: "I know the passion and commitment he will bring to the role as the tour moves forward. You only need to look at what he has achieved in sports and business to date to see that his record speaks for itself" (REUTERS, 4/17). ... CONCACAF President JEFFREY WEBB was "re-elected unopposed" for a second term as head of the governing body for North and Central America and the Caribbean. Webb took over as president in '12 following the resignation of long-standing leader JACK WARNER, who was "embroiled in a cash-for-votes scandal" (REUTERS, 4/16). ... SARDAR NAVEED HAIDER "was elected president of the Pakistan Football Federation's largest regional body late on Friday after a chaotic election," which FIFA was "dragged into and a government-backed candidate barred from" (REUTERS, 4/18).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Borussia Dortmund has appointed THOMAS TUCHEL as its new head coach. Tuchel will replace JÜRGEN KLOPP, who annouced his resignation at the end of the season on Tuesday. The former head coach of Bundesliga rival FSV Mainz will sign a three-year deal until '18 (BILD, 4/19). ... MICKY ADAMS has left his role as manager of League Two side Tranmere by "mutual consent with just two games of the season remaining." Rovers "suffered a fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday, leaving them bottom of League Two and two points adrift of safety." Assistant Manager ALAN ROGERS and the Academy Manager SHAUN GARNETT will "take temporary charge of first-team affairs" (PA, 4/19).
