Marketplace Roundup: Spanish Superior Sports Council Hoping To Add Danone

Spanish Superior Sports Council (CSD) President Miguel Cardenal proposed on Tuesday at a meeting of Spain's Olympic Sports Association (ADO) that Danone "become a new sponsor of the program that helps athletes prepare" for the 2016 Olympics. This would give the CSD its second sponsor during Cardenal's tenure after it signed Viajes Barceló in April '14 (EFE, 4/14). ... Accor announced its entire ibis family -- namely its brands ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget -- would become the official supplier of the Tour de France for three years. The hotel group's budget brand ibis budget has already been an official partner of the Tour de France since '06 (Accor). ... Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain defender David Luiz and Brazilian operator Vivo "are under a new contract." Luiz "renewed with the telecommunications company for further two years." He will "appear in the brand's commercials, in addition to" the company's online televised program, "Vivo Valoriza" (UOL, 4/14). ... League One side Sheffield United extended its shirt sponsorship deal with John Holland. The car dealer "will continue to support the League One club and its various partner charities for a second season next year." As part of the deal, the company’s logo "will remain on the front of the team’s playing shirts" (SOCCEREX,4/14). ... EPL side Everton renewed its association with int'l betting and gaming partner Dafabet for a further three years. The new deal will run until the end of the '17-18 season. Dafabet first joined as an official partner in the '12-13 campaign and is one of Asia’s leading online gaming sites (Everton). ... Scottish Premiership side Celtic will wear its first kit made by New Balance for the '15-16 football season -- "and it looks like the new strip has been leaked." Complete with orange detail on the Magners Irish Cider logo, the kit "stays true to Celtic’s roots, with a simple green and white hoops design" (SCOTSMAN, 4/14). ... Man City announced a new partnership deal with Vivo Energy. The company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants across Africa was named the club’s official fuels and lubricants partner in Botswana (Man City). ... WTCC promoter Eurosport Events announced a major new partnership with Rosneft, Russia’s petroleum industry leader. Already the title sponsor of the LADA Sport factory team in this season’s WTCC, Rosneft will increase its involvement in the championship by becoming the event presenting partner of the WTCC races in Russia and China, two of the flagship events of '15 (FIAWTCC).

ADAC GROUP ADDS PARTNER: Inspection company DEKRA has secured a two-year partnership with the ADAC Group. This will ensure that the DEKRA logo will appear on all of the ADAC Formula 4 cars as well as the start number holders and the podium backdrop (ADAC Formula 4). … Following up on the first ever La Course by Le Tour de France held in ‘14, Specialized Women have signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with race organizer Amaury Sport Organization to continue as the official performance bike sponsor of the event (ASO).
