Spanish Political Party PSOE Demands $80M From Spanish Football Federation

Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) Secretary General Miguel Angel Ferrero said that his party will demand €75M ($79.9M) from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the "commercial use it has made of the Ciudad del Fútbol training facility over the last decade," according to the EFE. Ferrero testified at the Madrid High Court of Justice (TSJM), "which is judging Bonifacio de Santiago," the former mayor of the Madrid municipality of Las Rozas, where the Ciudad del Fútbol is located. Ferrero said that this case "began 17 years ago, when his party lodged a suit against the loan of the land to the RFEF." He added that for 10 years, the local government "failed to meet the court orders that canceled the loan of the land." The PSOE believes the RFEF conducted business amounting to €7.5M per year, per estimates from Tinsa (EFE, 4/14).
