Six Brasília Olympic Training Centers Forgotten, Nations Still Uninterested

Six training centers in Brasília are "ready to host countries interested" in having a Brazilian base before the Rio Olympics; however, they have been "forgotten or have not pleased any nation," according to Vítor de Moraes of SUPER ESPORTES. The official website of the 2016 Olympic Games even "suggests to committees the available locations" for training centers of int'l teams. Less than a year from the Games, the Brazilian National Police Academy (ANP), athletic club Asbac, Center For Firefighter Building Capacity (Cecaf), Brasília Golf Club, Brasília Naval Club and the Federal District Department of Aquatic Sports "do not know if they will house foreigners in their facilities." Brasília Naval Club Southern Manager Alexandre Dourado said, "We presented proposals, but not one embassy, committee, nobody has sought after us yet." Brasília also did not "receive any national teams during the pre-World Cup last year." The Brazilian capital "only welcomed teams right before" its turn to host World Cup games (SUPER ESPORTES, 4/12).
