Football Notes: FFA Fuming Over A-League Side Perth Glory's Injunction Request

Football Federation Australia "is fuming" that A-League side Perth Glory will "seek an injunction from the WA Supreme Court before even lodging an appeal with the governing body over the decision to ban them from this season's finals series." Perth's legal representatives filed papers to the court at 6pm local time on Friday. Justice Robert Mitchell adjourned the application until 2:15pm Monday. The club was given seven days to appeal FFA's initial decision to fine it A$269,000 ($207,000) and to "automatically downgrade their final ladder position to seventh after finding Perth guilty of systematic salary cap breaches" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/12).

IN MANCHESTER: Man City players will lose £500,000 ($731,600)-a-man in bonuses "if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season." The Premier League title holders give players like Sergio Agüero, David Silva, Joe Hart and Yaya Touré incentivized contracts to make sure the club stays within financial fair play requirements. Players will "miss out on a big payday" if Man City fails to reach the group stages of Europe's top competition (London DAILY MAIL, 4/12). ... Man City has apologized to supporters and "promised to hand out ticket refunds after coaches they laid on for free were delayed" and missed the kickoff at Crystal Palace. The club has written to 300 fans "who took them up on their offer of free transport" for the clash at Selhurst Park. All of those onboard the six coaches missed the kickoff, "with some arriving as much as 20 minutes after the start" (DAILY MAIL, 4/10).
