Sports Bodies Boost Swiss Economy By $1B-Plus Per Year, Study Finds

A new study by the Int'l Academy of Sports Science & Technology said that the IOC and other int'l sports organizations contribute more than $1B to the Swiss economy every year, according to the AP. The study covers the "economic impact of 45 sports bodies in Switzerland" over a six-year period from '08-13. It found the sports organizations generated an annual overall impact of 1.07B Swiss francs ($1.10B). The study said that the 45 bodies employ more than 2,000 people in Switzerland, with 65% working for FIFA, the IOC and UEFA (AP, 4/9).
