Media Notes: Sky, BT Pay Billions For TV Rights, Forget To Show 'Best' Game

It has "not been a good year for TV executives tasked with selecting football matches." Many fans "were outraged" after League One side Bradford City’s run to the FA Cup quarterfinals "was practically ignored." And "there was no respite on Tuesday," when EPL sides Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers played out one of the most relentless -- "and ridiculous" -- games of the season in the battle to avoid relegation. Supporters "across the country scrolled endlessly through their TV guides only to find that the game was not on any channel." Twitter "was an unhappy place as a result" (EUROSPORT, 4/7). ... Man City’s Sky Blue supporters club in the UAE "will provide a screening of Sunday’s Manchester derby at Zayed Sports City." Fans in the UAE "will be able to gather for the match in Abu Dhabi at the Sky Bluze fan zone at Zayed Sports City." Doors "will open" at 6:30pm with kickoff scheduled for 7pm (THE NATIONAL, 4/8).
