Four German Cities Interested In Hosting NFL Regular-Season Games In 2017

Four German cities -- Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf -- "have reportedly confirmed their interest in hosting an NFL regular-season game in '17," according to SPORT1. The host venues in Berlin and Munich "could be the cities' Olympic Stadiums." At the NFL owners meeting in March, team owners "identified Germany in their search for new markets." NFL Exec VP/Int'l Mark Waller: "I think we've concluded that Brazil and Germany are the next two frontier markets." After the NFL has played annual games in London over the past several years, Mexico, Canada and China "have become candidates to host future regular-season games." The league "is also considering playing the 2017 Pro Bowl in Brazil." Germany already "has a large NFL fan base and has produced several players." In addition, five of the six NFL Europe teams were located in the country (SPORT1, 4/8).
