Spanish Football Federation Backs LFP, Calls For New TV Rights Law

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said in a statement that it is anxious for the Spanish government to "pass the decree law that will regulate the commercialization of the collective and centralized TV rights pertaining to Spanish football clubs," according to AS. The RFEF expressed its support for the law, which has "been long sought" by the Spanish Football League (LFP). The RFEF statement made three points:
  •  We ratify the unity of Spanish football, which was manifested in today's meeting, attended by members of both the professional and amateur game. Both the RFEF and the LFP urgently request that the government puts in place a decree law to regulate the centralized commercialization and its fair distribution amongst Spanish football.
  • We publicly show our support to the LFP in all their claims over grass roots football and all classes of the game in Spain.
  • The members of the committee have unanimously supported the work of President of the Federation, D. Ángel Mª Villar (AS, 4/7).
