Former FIA President Max Mosley Cautions Of F1 Collapse If It Doesn't Change

Former FIA President Max Mosley "has cautioned of an F1 collapse," according to the DPA. Mosley: "If it continues the same way then F1 will collapse." The reasons for F1's crisis are obvious to Mosley: "unequal distribution of money, excessive expenditures and too much power in the hands of F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone." Mosley: "You have to get all teams together on a table and explain to them that F1 has a massive problem because some have enough money but the majority does not." The increasing pressure on the back of the field was highlighted by the bankruptcy of Caterham and Marussia at the end of last season. Teams such as Sauber, Force India and Lotus "have been struggling financially for some time and are only able to compete thanks to the millions of so-called pay drivers." Mosley's solution for all the problems is a budget cap (DPA, 4/7).
