Two Suitors Reportedly Show Interest In Takeover At EPL Side West Bromwich Albion

An Australian consortium and a "second group from the Far East are the latest parties to have registered an interest" in a takeover at EPL side West Bromwich Albion, according to Brendan McLoughlin of the SUNDAY TIMES. West Brom Owner & Chair Jeremy Peace has fielded a "string of enquiries over a sale of the Midlands club" for about £150M ($224M). It would represent a "huge profit for the 58-year-old," who joined the board as a non-exec director in '00 before becoming chairman two years later. He now owns 77% of the club's shares. The "other parties known to have registered their interest in the club" are from the U.S. as well as another consortium from the Far East. The "potential asking price relates to West Brom's pre-tax profits" of £14.7M ($22M) for the year ending June 30, the club's share of the Premier League’s £5.14B ($7.68B) domestic TV deal and the "upcoming sale of overseas broadcasting rights" (SUNDAY TIMES, 4/5).
