Real Madrid has "reached an agreement" with Portuguese side Porto to sign its right-back DANILO for a fee of £23M ($34M). The 23-year-old Brazil int'l, who has "agreed a six-year contract" until June 30, 2021, will join the La Liga club next season (REUTERS, 4/1). Champions League winners in '04, Porto has made £517M ($766M) in player sales over the past decade, although much of that "has gone to third party owners and agents" (EUROSPORT, 3/31). ... ALJAZ BEDENE, the Slovenia-born player who has lived in Hertfordshire for the past seven years, "attended a British citizenship ceremony" Tuesday that finally confirmed his change of nationality. Bedene will now "become the British No 2 on the rankings table," although he will not be able to play alongside ANDY MURRAY and company in the Davis Cup "without special dispensation" from the Int'l Tennis Federation (London TELEGRAPH, 3/31). ... Former Scotland and Scottish Championship side Rangers Manager ALEX MCLEISH will leave Belgian club Racing Genk after just one season having told them on Tuesday that he has "decided not to seek a new contract." Genk, champions in '11, "finished just outside the top six" in the Belgian championship's regular season, meaning it failed to make the playoffs for the league title (REUTERS, 3/31).
