League Championship Side Bolton Announces Debt Figure Up To $256M After Losses

League Championship side Bolton's debt "is up" to £172.9M ($256M) after announcing a loss of £9.1M for the '14 financial year, according to the BBC. The net figure "is an improvement" of £41.6M ($61M) from £50.7M ($75M) losses revealed during the last set of results. The club announced that staff costs "have reduced" by £9M ($13M) because of a number of players leaving. Bolton "ended an 11-year stay in the Premier League" after relegation in May '12. Bolton Chair Phil Gartside said, "There's no doubting that the transition to the Football League has been a challenging one" (BBC, 4/1).
