Speedway Team Glasgow Tigers On Verge Of Securing $1.5M Live TV Meeting On Sky Sports

Motorcycle speedway team Glasgow Tigers "are set to get a live meeting on Sky Sports this season" -- estimated to be worth up to £1M ($1.49M) for the new-look club, according to Phil Lanning of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The Allied Vehicle Tigers were visited by Sky Sports broadcaster Nigel Pearson and other top Sky Sports execs. Pearson and colleagues "were blown away by the work done on the Ashfield Stadium by new owners Gerry and Michael Facenna" from Allied Vehicles, who have ploughed more than £1M into the club since taking it over in late December. Sky Sports' Speedway twitter account stated later that "Glasgow looks good enough for a Sky visit." Sky Sports is reportedly looking at an "early summer" meeting, "ideally against old enemy Edinburgh Monarchs." Pearson: "Glasgow have got massive potential to be one of the biggest clubs in the sport. The new owners are doing an incredible job with rebuilding the stadium from the ground up" (DAILY RECORD, 3/20).
