Media Notes: England Tops Six Nations Twitter Table With Most Mentions On Site

Wales "might still be in with a shout of winning the RBS Six Nations crown this weekend" but it sits bottom of the table for Twitter mentions during the tournament. The social media website "measured which team was inspiring most tweets during each match and awarded two points for a win in line with the Six Nations format," and revealed that England came out on top "with a perfect eight points from four matches." Wales is joint last in the Twitter table alongside Italy and Scotland "with only two points from their four outings" (PA, 3/19). ... Turner Broadcasting Latin America-owned network Esporte Interativo "has secured the Brazilian media rights" to the Int'l Champions Cup preseason football tournament. Esporte Interativo agreed to a three-year deal to "take the rights across a range of platforms," including pay-TV and free-to-air channels (SOCCEREX, 3/19). ... Multi Screen Media’s sports and entertainment channel Sony Six "acquired the rights to the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2015." The championship "will be aired" from March 24-29 (INDIAN TELEVISION, 3/19). ... One World Sports and Kiswe Mobile joined forces to bring Kontinental Hockey League games live to Canadian fans for the first time via a free ad-supported app. Beginning March 26, the 2015 KHL conference final playoff rounds and Gagarin Cup finals will be available to watch in Canada live and in full via Kiswe Mobiles Trekker Live app (One World Sports).

RATINGS FACEOFF: The BBC and Sky "are set for a ratings face-off" after the BBC chose to broadcast the FA Cup semifinal between League Championship Reading and Arsenal at the same time as ManU's Premier League clash at Chelsea. The Wembley fixture will kick off at 5:20pm on Saturday, April 18, with ManU Manager Louis van Gaal's first trip to Stamford Bridge starting just 10 minutes later. BT Sport "will broadcast the other FA Cup semi, between Aston Villa and Blackburn or Liverpool" (London DAILY MIRROR, 3/19).
