League Notes: Asian Rowing Federation, WWF Enter Partnership Deal

The Asian Rowing Federation "reached a partnership deal with the World Wildlife Fund in Shanghai recently, with the two sides joining hands to promote the sport of rowing and call for better water environment protection." The WWF "will get involved in the construction of rowing competition sites in Asia, supervise the water condition, and collect data for its future plan to draft an environment friendly standard for sports activities" (SHANGHAI DAILY, 3/19). ... Australian Football League side Western Bulldogs self-reported "betting activity" by an AFL listed player and another who plays in the Victorian Football League. The club confirmed that Bulldogs Football Operations Manager Graham Lowe contacted AFL Integrity Manager Brett Clothier on Saturday afternoon "immediately after learning of betting activity by the players" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 3/19). ... Following the recent natural catastrophe that has ravaged the island of Vanuatu, the Int'l Cricket Council confirmed that it will be offering its support through the platform of one of its official charity partners, UNICEF, at the ICC Cricket World Cup quarterfinals between Australia vs. Pakistan on Friday. The ICC, alongside the co-hosts of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Cricket Australia and New Zealand Cricket, will jointly contribute $200,000 to support UNICEF in its aid and recovery programs in the region (ICC).
