JX Nippon Oil And Energy Corp. Signs On As Latest Sponsor For 2020 Olympics

JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corp. "has become the sixth Gold Partner, or a top domestic sponsor, for the for the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games," according to Kaz Nagatsuka of the JAPAN TIMES. The contract term "began Wednesday" and will last until Dec. 31, 2020. The company "will also support the Japanese national delegation on other stages around the globe prior to the Tokyo Games, such as during next year’s Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, the 2018 Winter Olympics, in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and a pair of Youth Olympics." JX, the largest oil company in Japan, "will be in charge of supplying oil, gas and electric services for the 2020 Games." For the Tokyo Games, JX "will be expected to provide hydrogen energy as well." As fuel cell vehicles have recently come into the market, JX "has actively been working on installing hydrogen stations at Eneos gas stations across the country" (JAPAN TIMES, 3/18).
