Welsh Rugby Union Signs Two-Year Shirt Partnership With Insurance Company Admiral

The Welsh Rugby Union has signed the biggest shirt partnership deal in its history, with Welsh-based insurance company Admiral. Admiral's logo is already emblazoned across the chests of Wales' senior national stars, and has been since Nov. '10, but a new partnership has now been agreed until '17. The partnership has also seen Admiral extend its support to the senior Wales women's side, which will now also carry the Admiral logo on its playing strip until '17. Admiral employs more than 7,000 people at its offices in Wales, Spain, Italy, France, the U.S., Canada and India and uses the sponsorship of Wales' national sport primarily to reward and incentivize staff (WRU). In Cardiff, David James reported the partnership links "two of the biggest brands in Wales on a global platform and provides a significant financial boost to Welsh rugby." Events like player visits to Admiral offices, "exclusive access to the national squad and previews of kit launches and press announcements are set to continue" (WALES ONLINE, 3/14).
