Australian Grand Prix Chair RON WALKER "has been declared cancer-free after a nearly three-year fight for his life." As he prepares for his final Albert Park Formula One race as chairman of the Australian Grand Prix Corp., Walker revealed his remission "was confirmed late last year following treatment with an experimental drug" in the U.S. Walker: "The doctors in America announced me to be cancer-free 12 weeks ago, so I'm the luckiest guy that ever walked." Walker, who will step down as AGPC chairman after 20 years following Sunday's F1 season-opener at Albert Park, "dismissed his fortune -- estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars -- as the live-or-die difference" (THE AGE, 3/12). ... Former Australian Football League side Richmond President GARY MARCH is "seeking to become" the new CEO of Athletics Australia. March, who "oversaw the turnaround in Richmond's financial position, has a commercial background" in Olympic and int'l sports. His former company, Concept Sports, was the "official retailer for three summer and two winter Olympic Games." It was also licensed for three rugby World Cups, F1 grands prix and swimming world championships among major sporting events. Long-time yachting administrator PHIL JONES has been interim CEO at AA since late last year "following the forced resignation in October" of former CEO DALLAS O'BRIEN (THE AGE, 3/12). ... Actor JACKIE CHAN entered a recording studio in Beijing's Chaoyang District on Monday to record "Wake up Winter," the theme song for the application of the 2022 Winter Olympics. A large number of "well-known musicians both from home and abroad are working on the song" (CHINA DAILY, 3/12).
