Franchise Notes: Parma Owner Manenti Reportedly Rejects $527,000 Offer For Club

It is reported that Serie A side Parma Giampietro Manenti "has rejected" an offer of €500,000 ($527,000) to sell the club to a London-based group. The club is "facing bankruptcy, with a court date set for March 19," and the current president has yet to come up with "any of the funds he has promised." La Repubblica reported that an offer has been made by Proto Enterprises Ltd., "a consortium based in London and owned by Alessandro Proto" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 3/11). ... City Football Group, whose family of clubs includes Man City, MLS side New York City FC and A-League side Melbourne City FC, announced a $600,000 charitable investment as part of Cityzens Giving. The scheme, which is the first of its kind, gave New York City FC season ticket holders and thousands of Cityzens from Man City and Melbourne City the opportunity to pledge $8 to youth-led charity football projects in six cities. Funded from City Football Group’s '13-14 annual revenue, the program aims to improve the lives of more than 2,000 young people in disadvantaged communities through the power of football (Man City).
