Argentine FA Clubs To Receive 40.8% Increase In Revenue From TV Rights

Clubs in the Argentine FA's top three divisions -- A, B Nacional and B Metropolitana -- "will receive a significant increase in revenue from TV rights during the current season," according to TÉLAM. Starting in May, the total amount the AFA receives from TV revenue will increase by 40.8%. The clubs will receive monthly amounts that will include retroactive payment dating back to January of this year. In the first division, top clubs Boca Juniors and River plate will both receive 5.2M Argentine pesos ($590,000) per month, while San Lorenzo, Vélez, Racing and Independiente will each receive 3.9M Argentine pesos ($440,000) per month. Of the remaining 24 top-flight clubs, the 14 that were in the first division last year will each receive 2.9M Argentine pesos ($330,000) per month, while the 10 clubs promoted to the top flight for this year will receive 1M Argentine pesos ($110,00) per month. In the AFA's second tier, the B Nacional, the 12 who were already in that category will receive 600,000 Argentine pesos ($68,350) per month, and the 10 promoted to that flight for this year will receive 400,000 Argentine pesos ($45,600) per month. Third-tier (B Metropolitana) clubs will all receive 300,000 Argentine pesos ($34,200) per month (TÉLAM, 3/11).
