Marketplace Roundup: Ronaldo Puts On Dancing Shoes In CR7 Footwear Spot

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, "no stranger to making himself look a bit daft" on TV, has donned his "finest glad rags and dancing shoes in a new advert for his CR7 footwear collection." Ronaldo "even cadges a couple of signature moves from Michael Jackson as he uses the medium of interpretive dance to proudly show-off his latest fashionable wares" (ESPN, 3/6). ... National Rugby League side Melbourne Storm announced a three-year partnership with Whitehorse Truck and Bus which will see the dealership appear on the front of the club's playing shorts until the end of '17. In addition to the front of shorts sponsorship, the deal, which opens up a new partner category for Melbourne Storm, will also include digital advertising across melbournestorm.com.au and gameday LED signage within AAMI Park at Storm home games. The club also named Metsal Heat Rub Cream a partner in a three-year deal. Metsal becomes the team's back of shorts sponsor (Melbourne Storm). ... F1 team Sahara Force India announced a working partnership with Adaptavist. The software company will help Force India find, share and collaborate on information (Force India). ... Swiss football club FC Sion named drinks retailer Alloboissons a principal partner. Under the three-and-a-half year deal, Alloboissons branding will appear on the club's shirts (SOCCEREX, 3/6).

LA ROJA TO LOSE SPONSORS?: In Madrid, Javier G. Matallanas wrote in a blog post Spanish national football team sponsors Banesto, Nissan, Bimbo and Gillette are "leaving La Roja." Sources indicated they will no longer be sponsors, and Spanish National Team Dir María José Claramunt "has not been able to find other businesses to replace them" (AS, 3/8).
