Kevin Pietersen Backs Idea of English Twenty20 Premier League

England cricket player Kevin Pieterson has called the prospect of Twenty20 franchise cricket coming into the English game as "brilliant," according to the PA. New England & Wales Cricket Board Chair Colin Graves, who will "take up his position in May," has "expressed enthusiasm" for launching an English premier league. The league could "operate along the lines of a highly successful indian Premier League and Australian Big Bash" with county teams "compounded into a small number of franchise sides" based out of major cities. Graves: "We've got to look at an English Premier League somehwere and how we can fit that into the calendar. We can't ignore it. It's been successful in India and Australia, so why shouldn't it be successful over here?" (PA, 2/25).
