Media Notes: Football League Challenges Fans To 'Own' Wembley Arch

The Football League is calling on Chelsea and Tottenham fans to "own the arch" at Wembley stadium "in a social media battle" ahead of its Capital One Cup final. Ahead of the game on Sunday, fans of either team "are being called on to tweet either #ChelseaAtWembley or #SpursAtWembley, with the most tweets resulting in the famous Wembley arches being lit up in the colour of the team" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 2/24). ... Portugal's Competition Court "blocked the shareholding structure of pay-TV service Sport TV." The ruling "upholds the decision by the Competition Authority (AdC) on the agreement between Controlinveste, Zon Optimus (now Nos) and Portugal Telecom (PT)." The deal, announced in Dec. '12, "would give PT and Zon each 25 percent of Sport TV, with the remaining 50 percent belonging to Sportinveste" (TELECOM PAPER, 2/23). ... Deltatre and Netco Sports are joining forces. Initially focusing on football, the partnership will bring a more complete set of services to the market -- covering the full digital spectrum including websites, mobile apps, multi-platform live and on-demand video experiences, social fan engagement and in-stadium activation (deltatre).
