Marketplace Roundup: Belgian Sunday League Club Sports Shirts Designed By Cartoonist

Belgian Sunday league team VK Linden "may only be playing on muddy parks," but it can "perhaps boast to have the smartest kits in world football." Belgian cartoonist Jeroom Snelders designed the new kit after one of the team's coaches, Maarten De Cuyper, realized he "worked in the same building as Humo magazine, where the famed cartoonist is currently employed." The kit looks like something "straight from a 1950s B-movie" (London INDEPENDENT, 2/23). ... Serie A club Cagliari named Fluorsid its shirt sponsor for Monday's league fixture with Inter Milan. No financial details of its "last-minute agreement were made available and there was no indication of whether the deal will continue beyond the Inter game" (SOCCEREX, 2/23). ... Sphere Global and Ulster Bank were named the new title sponsors for this year's Northern Ireland Open. The Northern Ireland Open will take place at Galgorm Castle Golf Club in Ballymena from Aug. 6-9 (European Tour). ... Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli "has confirmed that it will once again be the title sponsor" for the Spanish F1 Grand Prix and the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix in the '15 season (NBC SPORTS, 2/22).
