Marketplace Roundup: Tokyo 2020 Names Fujitsu, NEC Corp. Newest Gold Partners

The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee has named Fujitsu and NEC Corp. its latest gold partners, bringing the total number already announced to five. Fujitsu has been named the data center hardware provider while NEC will be Tokyo 2020's specialist public safety equipment, software and network equipment provider (Tokyo 2020). ... Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) club Alba Berlin agreed to a new partnership with Munich-based life insurance provider LV 1871. Alba Berlin and LV 1871 signed a long-term contract, which has an initial three-deal duration (Alba Berlin). ... Female athletes competing in this year's Women's Gift at Stawell race will be competing for equal prize money under a new sponsorship agreement with Australia Post. The prize money for the 120m race will increase from A$6,000 ($4,675) to A$60,000, with first place taking home A$40,000. This comes as a result of a three-year partnership with Australia Post, following 20 years of support for the event (Stawell Gift). ... Australian Football League side Sydney Swans named Wynstan – Blinds, Doors, Awnings and Shutters a premier partner of the club. As part of the partnership, Wynstan will feature during matchday on the big screen as the countdown to the first bounce of each Swans home match (Sydney Swans). ... The World Curling Federation announced that Russian airline Aeroflot is to be the main sponsor of the World Women’s Curling Championship 2015. The sponsorship was facilitated by Infront Sports & Media and supported by the Russian sports marketing agency Premium Sport (Infront). ... Community projects across County Durham "will be boosted by a new sponsorship deal" between National League 1 side Darlington Mowden Park RFC and financial services group ESRG. ESRG officials said the company is making a “substantial” three-year investment into the club’s community scheme, "which involves working in schools and setting up local projects to engage more people with sport" (NORTHERN ECHO, 2/19). ... Under Armour "has enlisted the help of professional athletes, including Welsh rugby union fullback Leigh Halfpenny, to launch a social media campaign challenging fitness enthusiasts to push themselves further." The performance-wear brand said it will also get involved in the conversations people are having online about fitness by "hijacking competitor social conversations in real-time," throwing in content such as videos and images of athletes challenging them to train harder (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 2/19). ... The Czech FA (FACR) extended its agreement with Sportradar until '19 (Sportradar). ... Football Federation South Australia announced Kanga Coachlines as the official travel supplier of the FFSA. Kanga Coachlines will provide transport for National Premier Leagues matches in Port Pirie as well as transport for the Regional Rounds held in Whyalla, Roxby Downs and Mount Gambier (Kanga). ... Total Access Communication signed a sponsorship contract with Chiang Rai United Football club, "committing to assist the club during the 2015 Thai Premier League season" (THE NATION, 2/18). ... Chevrolet will be a new sponsor of Colombia's national football teams in a deal running through '18. The agreement makes Chevrolet the first car brand to sponsor the Colombian national teams (PORTAFOLIO, 2/18). ... U.S.-based sports court manufacturer Connor Sports is the official court provider of the ongoing Spanish Basketball League (ACB) Copa Del Rey. The tournament, being held in Gran Canaria, started Thursday and and will conclude Sunday (Connor Sports).

NEW KIT? ManU is set for a £750M ($1.1B) re-brand when it switches to adidas-designed kits "at the start of next season." With new sponsorship deals come the rumors of new kits -- "and a couple of designs have been leaked which could well be the shirts which the Red Devils will don in the new campaign" (London DAILY MIRROR, 2/19).
