Former Spanish Second Division Side Racing Santander Players Leading Effort To Save Club

Former Spanish second division side Racing Santander players Pedro Munitis, Gonzalo Colsa, Emilio Amavisca and Víctor are "part of an initiative" to save the club, according to Roberto González of AS. The group, led by its president Manolo Higuera, is aiming to raise €2.5M ($2.8M) by March 14 to prevent the club from "entering liquidation proceedings." The group is still €1M ($1.14M) from its objective, and is "seeking help from current and former players." Various businessmen "are supporting the initiative, including brothers Javier and Carmen Botín of Banco Santander" and BBVA COO & President Ángel Cano (AS, 2/19).
