The '16 season "could be the last" for Spanish cyclist ALBERTO CONTADOR. He made the announcement "during the presentation of the teams of the Alberto Contador Foundation in Citroën’s headquarters in Madrid." Contador: "Phyiscally I recover well and I’m excited about the team, but the years are passing. Next year I’ll be in the squad, but it will be the last" (AS, 2/16). ... Spain's KING FELIPE VI will attend the final of the eight-team basketball Copa del Rey next Monday night. The game will be played at Gran Canaria Arena. The tournament starts Thursday (EFE, 2/16). ... A-League side Sydney FC defender SEB RYALL "will be given the chance to defend accusations that he dived to gain a penalty in the game against Melbourne Victory" after the matter was referred to a disciplinary committee hearing (THE AUSTRALIAN, 2/17). ... Korean Basketball League side Ulsan Mobis Phoebus coach YOO JAE-HAK "claimed his 500th win Sunday," something no KBL coach has ever done. The milestone was set after the team beat the Seoul SK Knights 70-60 at Ulsan Dongchun Gymnasium. Serving 17 years as a head coach, Yoo "has recorded 500 wins and 384 losses, for a .566 winning percentage." During that time, "he collected four regular season trophies and four playoff championships" (KOREA TIMES, 2/16). ... After 16 years with the Jockey Club, race caller DARREN FLINDELL will depart following Hong Kong Derby day "to take up the lead commentary role in Sydney." Flindell "signed on with TABCorp as the senior metropolitan caller and will barely take a breath between jobs, finishing in his current position at Sha Tin on March 15 and starting in his new one the next day" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 2/16).
