Football Notes: LFP To Investigate Barça Fans' 'Cristiano The Drunk' Chants

The Spanish Football League (LFP) correspondent at Barcelona's Camp Nou during the match against Levante "included in his report the chants aimed at Cristiano Ronaldo." The correspondent's report said that "a section of the supporters in the stadium chanted 'he is a drunk, Cristiano is a drunk.'" The LFP will look to verify the chants with video footage "before referring it to the Anti-Violence Committee, although the videos are already circulating on social networks" (AS, 2/16). ... Real Madrid will take in sport science students from Victoria University under a five-year deal. Students from selected masters programs attend the Real Madrid Graduate School Universidad Europea in Spain. As part of the deal academics from Real Madrid, "many of whom are former players, will visit VU to deliver lectures to sports students" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 2/16). ... League One side Barnsley has announced it will refund all of its fans who traveled on Saturday to watch the club's 5-1 defeat at Crawley Town. The South Yorkshire club, which sacked Manager Danny Wilson and assistant Chris Hutchings on Thursday, said in a brief statement that it shared the fans' distress at their side's latest display (Football League). ... Scottish Championship side Rangers will hand Serie A Inter Milan "the keys to Murray Park" ahead of the club's Europa League match with Celtic. Rangers agreed to "help out the Serie A men by letting them use" their Auchenhowie training base. Rangers are expecting Inter at Murray Park on the morning of the match (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 2/15). ... Serie A and its member clubs "have officially approved goal line technology in future Serie A matches." The introduction will begin as early as the '15-16 season. Genoa President Enrico Preziosi: "Everyone agreed on the goal-line technology, now we will offer the best solution according to the criteria of the economy and the technology available" (ITALIAN FOOTBALL DAILY, 2/13).
