A-League Side Western Sydney Wanderers Come Under Fire Over Treatment Of Players

A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers "have come under scrutiny" over the treatment of its players from the A-League players' union, which has criticized the club for "ostracizing four members of the senior team told they no longer had a future at Parramatta," according to Dominic Bossi of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The club is "alleged to have isolated four players from training sessions in recent weeks and encouraged them to sign mutual contract terminations during the January transfer window." Kwabena Appiah, Vitor Saba, Daniel Mullen and Seyi Adeleke "spent about a month training away from the rest of the squad and were excluded from other activities after being told they would not play first team football this season." The players "sought assistance from the Professional Footballers Association, which condemned the practice as a breach of the Collective Bargaining Agreement players and clubs are bound to, as well as breaching workplace regulations" (SMH, 2/11).
