Setanta Sports Gains Television Rights For Champions League, Europa League

Setanta Sports "scored a victory over rivals RTE and TV3 in its hunt for Champions League and Europa League television rights," according to Brynmor Pattison of the IRISH MIRROR. The channel acquired "exclusively" live rights to both competitions in Ireland for three years from the '15-16 season. The Setanta Sports package "will show all live televised games from both tournaments and this deal follows BT Sport's gain of similar live rights" in the U.K. from '15-16 to '17-18. This means "a total of 350 games per season." In the group stages the Setanta Sports Pack "will show all Tuesday games live, all Wednesday games live and all Thursday games -- the Europa League -- exclusively live" (IRISH MIRROR, 2/9).
