Toshiba Renews Rugby World Cup Sponsorship For 2015 Edition

Toshiba has renewed its sponsorship of the Rugby World Cup for a third time, "extending its official sponsorship of the event" for 48 matches scheduled from Sept. 18-Oct. 31, according to John Glenday of THE DRUM. The deal will see Toshiba branding "appear on pitch perimeter boards during the tournament, feeding into a wider advertising strategy" in Europe, Japan, Oceania and Africa. Toshiba is an "enthusiastic backer of the sport," fielding its own team, "BRAVE LUPUS," which competes in the Japanese Rugby League and is an official sponsor of the Japanese men's team (THE DRUM, 2/9). The Toshiba renewal follows the appointments of Heineken, Land Rover, Société Générale, DHL, Emirates and MasterCard as Rugby World Cup 2015 worldwide partners, Coca-Cola and Canon as official sponsors, Gilbert as ball supplier, Canterbury of New Zealand as sportswear supplier, Clifford Chance as law firm, EY as business adviser, and ESP as master licensee (Rugby World Cup).
