Brisbane Roar Fans Unhappy With Decision To Play AFC CL Games On Gold Coast

A-League side Brisbane Roar supporters have "vented their fury at the club's decision" to play its three 2015 AFC Champions League group home matches on the Gold Coast, according to Marco Monteverde of the Brisbane COURIER-MAIL. The Roar confirmed that its Group G games will be played at Robina venue Cbus Super Stadium rather than its "usual home ground, Suncorp Stadium." The club claimed its hands were "all but tied because of Suncorp Stadium's unavailability" on Feb. 25 due to a Foo Fighters concert being staged at the Milton venue the night before. A Roar spokesperson said playing the matches at another venue in Brisbane was "not possible because the likes of Ballymore and the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre were not 'compliant' with Champions League regulations." Roar fans are "taking to social media and fan forums to express their anger, suggesting Roar will struggle to attract decent crowds to the three matches." To ease the blow, Roar have lowered ticket prices for the three matches, with adult admission being A$10 ($7.81) and a A$5 entry fee for children (COURIER-MAIL, 2/9).
