Mexican pop singer MARIO DOMM joined Liga MX side Santos Laguna's "Embajadores de Santos Laguna" ("Santos Laguna Ambassadors") program, which gathers leaders from different professions with the intention of spreading the message of the Warriors, the transmission of values and support for social causes (Santos Laguna). ... The U.S. PGA Tour announced that three-time major champion BILLY CASPER "died on Saturday at the age of 83." The tour said on its website that "Casper died at his home in Springville, Utah." The cause of his death "was not disclosed." Casper, an eight-time American Ryder Cup team member, "was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978" (REUTERS, 2/7). ... Australian cyclist ROHAN DENNIS "has broken the world hour record, completing 52.491 kilometres on the track in Grenchen on Sunday." The 24-year-old BMC Racing rider "broke the previous mark of 51.852km" set by Austrian MATHIAS BRÄNDLE in Aigle, Switzerland in October (AAP, 2/9). ... Six-time V8 Supercars champion JAMIE WHINCUP "has been bitten by a snake" at a preseason promotion at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo. The one-meter, non-venomous black-headed python "latched on to Whincup’s hand as they shared a photo shoot with the series trophy he will be defending this season" (AAP, 2/6). ... TONY MCCOY "rode his first winner since announcing his retirement at the end of the season -- and followed it up with another victory barely half an hour later in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown." McCoy began by getting SORT IT OUT home for his boss JP MCMANUS in the Paddy Power Handicap Hurdle (London GUARDIAN, 2/8). ... Former Olympic speed skater LEE KYOU-HYUK "was named an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games on Friday." Lee "is a six-time Olympian who has set two world records in his career." The four-time world sprint champion "has competed in more Olympics, winter or summer, than any other South Korean athlete" (KOREA HERALD, 2/6). ... A doctor who allegedly injected a banned substance into South Korean swimmer PARK TAE-HWAN "was indicted Friday on charges of professional negligence." The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said that the doctor, identified only by his surname KIM, administered the injection "nebido" containing testosterone last July "without fully disclosing the risks and side effects to the swimmer" (KOREA HERALD, 2/6).
