Volkswagen Examines Entering Additional Motorsports Series, Continues WRC Program

Volkswagen "is evaluating entering additional motorsports series," according to the SID. Volkswagen Motorsports Head Wolfgang Dürheimer "confirmed the report." VW "will continue its participation in the World Rally Championship" for a third consecutive season this year. Dürheimer: "Volkswagen decided on a multi-year commitment in the WRC. We are expecting that other competitors will enter the series. It will be exciting." Toyota "already announced that it will return to the WRC in '17." VW "is reportedly evaluating entering a U.S. motorsports series." Dürheimer: "We know that the North American motorsports scene is completely different from the rest of the world. Additional activities for the VW brand are currently being examined" (SID, 2/5).
