Bundesliga side Hamburg SV has reported a loss of €6.6M for the '13-14 fiscal year, according to the SID. It "was the fouth year in a row in which the club reported a loss." HSV Chair Dietmar Beiersdorfer announced the numbers at the club's annual general meeting on Sunday. The club has a capital of €144M and liabilities of €100M. The club's equity ratio is around 11%. The recent investment of billionaire Klaus-Michael Kühne, who aquired a stake in the club for €18.75M and also secured the stadium naming rights in a four-year, €16M deal, is not included in the numbers. Beiersdorfer: "We don't swim in money, but we have stabilized the club's financial foundation." He added that the club has to get rid of the internalized depression of the past several years. Beiersdorfer: "We've gotten used to losing. We want to change that. We have to be diligent and eager to improve" (SID, 1/25).
A HELPING HAND: BILD reported Hamburg SV's former Supervisory Council Chair Alexander Otto has donated €10M ($11.2M) for the club's new youth performance center. The construction of the center "is expected to start this year." The HSV-Campus "is scheduled to open in the summer of '17." The construction "has recently been delayed because the project's finances were not secured." Otto: "I'm convinced the HSV has set the course with the current leadership and the campus for a successful future" (BILD, 1/25).
