Media Notes: Mediaset España Signs Three-Year Deal To Carry Copa Del Rey Finals

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Monday announced that Mediaset España has acquired the rights to carry the finals of the Copa del Rey and Supercopa, as well as friendlies played by the men's and women's national teams and the men's U21 squad. The deal will run for the next three years (EFE, 1/19). ... RR Media announced that it renewed its partnership with Southeast Asia content provider Solar Entertainment to provide media services for the NBA Premium TV channel to the Philippines. The agreement continues a longstanding partnership which now includes a range of RR Media's digital services (RR Media). ... UFC agreed to a new partnership with Russian broadcaster VGTRK, whereby all '15 UFC events will be available across a combination of Russia 2, Sport 1, Fight Club and Sportbox.ru. The partnership will start with the UFC Fight Night Gustafsson vs. Johnson in Stockholm on Saturday. With 20 Russian fighters within the UFC and an actively engaged audience already in the country, the deal will build upon the increasing interest in UFC in that market and cements the substantial growth seen within the EMEA region in '14 (UFC). ... Sky has approached Telefónica "about a possible alliance with the Spanish telecoms group’s British mobile phone business, a move that would push the satellite group into the rapidly reshaping European mobile market for the first time." The talks come as Sky’s major rival BT "negotiates the acquisition of mobile operator EE, having decided against acquiring Telefónica’s O2." Sky and Telefónica "have been talking since late 2014" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 1/20). ... Global fantasy sports platform Mondogoal added Chelsea as a team partner. Chelsea joins a growing list of Premier League, La Liga and Serie A clubs as team partners promoting Mondogoal's club-branded version (Mondogoal).
