Jockey Club Racecourses Attendance In '14 Up 3.3% Year-On-Year To 1.8 Million

Jockey Club Racecourses on Tuesday announced crowds at its 15 racecourses in '14 grew by 3.3% year-on-year to 1.8 million from staging 362 fixtures. Average attendances at the U.K.'s leading racecourse group, which stages the Cheltenham Festival and The Investec Derby Festival, were also up by 3% to just shy of 5,000 people per fixture (4,958) in '14 from 4,811 in '13. Figures released by the Horserace Betting Levy Board indicated that attendances at U.K racecourses -- including JCR's contribution -- increased in '14 by 2.4% year-on-year to 5.8 million. From staging roughly a quarter of British racing's fixtures, in '14 Jockey Club Racecourses welcomed around a third of all spectators nationwide (JCR).
