Marketplace Roundup: Fortuna Dusseldorf Agrees To Deal With Yokohama Tires

Second Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf " reportedly agreed to a new sponsorship deal with Japanese tire manufacturer Yokohama." The deal, which was signed shortly before Christmas, has a reported value of €100,000 ($118,000) annually (DER WESTEN, 1/13). ... The German Handball Federation (DHB) has extended its partnership with pharmacy chain "wir leben - Apotheken" as an official supplier for another year. The deal includes logo presence at national team games, in official DHB publications and on the DHB website. The deal was brokered by Sportfive (DHB). ... German courier company Deutsche Post has signed on as a national supporter of charity organization Deutsche Sporthilfe. The focus of the longterm deal will be the support of youth athletes (Deutsche Post). ... Int'l sporting apparel brand BLK announced a continuation of its six-year partnership with the Samoan Rugby Union. The partnership extension will see BLK provide the Samoan national rugby union team with on and off-field apparel for the '15 season including an historic Test match against the world champion All Blacks in Apia and the Rugby World Cup in London (BLK). ...

Andy Murray "has unveiled his new personal logo, which he will display for the first time at 2015 Australian Open." The design "will feature on Murray's on-court bag and training T-shirts in Melbourne." The World No. 6 "hired Aesop Agency to come up with the logo, which combines his initials with the number 77" (London TELEGRAPH, 1/15). ... Bulgarian football side CSKA Sofia has "opted to sign a kit deal with Italian firm Lotto" instead of switching to Nike. The new three-year contract with the Italian supplier "starts next season" and replaces another Italian company, Legea." A key factor in the decision for CSKA to go with Lotto "was the commitment from the Italian company to provide the club free kit via Sport Depot" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 1/15).

ASHRIDGE PARTNERS WITH UK SPORT: Business leaders "are being offered the chance to help boost Team GB’s medal chances at next year’s Olympic Games by honing their mentoring skills alongside the country’s top sports coaches." A joint project between Ashridge Business School and UK Sport "will see business executives develop and sharpen mentoring skills alongside a number of already successful coaches and leaders within elite Olympic and professional sports" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 1/15). ... The Baku 2015 European Games signed an agreement with Coca-Cola to serve as an official partner of this summer’s inaugural event. The deal will see the Baku 2015 brand exclusively displayed on the company’s Coca-Cola and Bonaqua water labels throughout Azerbaijan. Coca-Cola will also release limited edition product packaging dedicated exclusively to Baku 2015 and launch an integrated marketing campaign to help raise awareness of the Games (Baku 2015). ... Pay-TV network Dubai OSN "will sponsor the UAE cricket team, which will participate in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2015." OSN’s "renewed support extends to the UAE men’s national team, UAE women’s national team, and UAE Under 19 and Under 16 boys’ team" (GULF NEWS, 1/14).

MAN CITY DEAL: Man City “announced a three and a half year global partnership with online forex trading broker FXPrimus.” FXPrimus “will become” Man City’s official online forex trading partner. The financial elements of the partnership agreement have not been made public yet, “but such high profile team sponsorship deals are estimated to be around” $3M a year. Considering that this is a multi-year affair, industry sources have said that “the total combination deal should cost around” $7M or about $2M a year (FOREX MAGNATES, 1/15). ... Bundesliga side FC Schalke and South Korean tire manufacturer Kumho Tyre agreed to a partnership which will run until the end of the ’16-17 season and includes an option for a further year of collaboration. Kumho will receive advertising space inside the stadium on the 3D logo carpets next to the goals, as well as a presence on the LED boards inside the VELTINS-Arena (FC Schalke). ... Int’l sports marketing agency UFA Sports will take on a role to seek potential commercial partners for Barcelona and will be representing Barcelona in Germany (UFA Sports).

SOMETHING NEW: Nike, the official apparel sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, “unveiled India's new ODI kit which the players will sport in the triangular series in Australia starting on Friday.” The new lightweight kit "combines high performance innovation with sustainability." Each kit -- jersey and bottoms -- “is made out of an average of 33 recycled plastic bottles” (PTI, 1/15). ... Italy’s second division, Lega Serie B, signed an agreement with betting fraud prevention specialist Sportradar Security Services. Sportradar will provide both education workshops and e-learning packages to all 22 club teams for this season and the next two. The workshop and e-learning modules will be provided to the senior team and youth teams of each club (Sportradar).
