Media Notes: Deutsche Telekom To Show All Of Bayern Munich's Eurocup Basketball Games

Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) broadcast rights holder Deutsche Telekom will show all of Bayern Munich's Eurocup games through its "Telekom Basketball" offering. Munich's round of 32 matchup against Bamberg on Wednesday will be available free-of-charge without a subscription on www.telekom-basketball.de (Bayern Munich). ... Media marketing company Sky Media Network, which is a subsidiary of pay-TV network Sky Deutschland, "has created a new department to increase its focus on digital marketing." The new department called Unit "will be led by Thomas Lappy, who takes on the role of head of digital sales" (DWDL, 1/8). ... French journalist Eric Fottorino, who has written several books on cycling, “will succeed Jean-Paul Ollivier as a consultant for France Televisions for the upcoming Tour de France.” The network said his role will be “to share his passion for cycling, to put the exploits of cyclists into a historical perspective and to showcase the country’s tourism and natural heritage of the areas traveled by the Tour de France” (OUEST-FRANCE, 1/8).

BROADCAST NEWS: Baku 2015 European Games signed a broadcast deal with Sky Italia. Sky Italia will screen live coverage and highlights across its sports channels as well as provide extensive coverage on Sky Go. The broadcaster will also promote the Games via its Sky Sport 24 news channel (Baku 2015). ... The Florida Cup will be broadcast to 215 million households in 125 countries. More than 120 credentialed int'l media will gather in Jacksonville to cover the tournament. The featured teams are Brasileiro side Corinthians, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, Fluminense and FC Cologne (Florida Cup). ... ENTV "has reportedly secured a package of Algerian broadcast rights to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations." The state broadcaster "has reached a sublicensing deal with Al Jazeera-owned pay-TV operator BeIN Media Group." It "will air coverage of 12 games in total," including the opening match, Algeria’s three appearances in the group stages and every fixture from the quarterfinal stage onward (SOCCEREX, 1/8). ... Kenya's newly launched free-to-view TV platform, Bamba TV, "has signed on the Italian men's football league, Serie A." Bamba TV "will now screen a major weekly match free of charge on its digital TV." The agreement "was signed with MP & Silva" (TELECOM PAPER, 1/8). ... ONE World Sports will supplement its previously announced U.S. TV coverage by offering Canadian football fans exclusive livestream access to the Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup starting on Friday. The full-competition livestreaming -- on a subscription basis -- will enable Canadian fans to view all 32 matches of the quadrennial 16-team tournament (ONE World Sports).
