Hannover 96 President Says Club Needs European Stage To Achieve Long-Term Goals

Bundesliga side Hannover 96 President Martin Kind said that the club "has to return to European competitions, if possible as early as this season, in order to continue pursuing its long-term goals," according to Adrian Franke of GOAL. Kind: "We are longing to make a comeback on the European stage." He also said that the club has to solidify its position in the top third of the Bundesliga. Kind: "I always say that it requires a total turnover of €100 million ($119M) per season. We currently have €80 million ($95M) -- so we are missing around €20 million ($24M)." To close this gap, Kind sees only one way to start a "positive cash flow." He said, "If we play in European competitions on a consistent level, we will be able to attract new national sponsors and as a result new sponsorship income" (GOAL, 1/7).
